In 1970, John “Doc” Padgett designed the 2nd Generation, Command and Control Central (CCC), D-Company pocket patch. The insignia had an inverted triangle shape with an attached top tab that reads AIRBORNE. In the center of the patch with an eagle in flight with a double headed axe (battle axe) in one talon and a dead snake in the other. In the upper field reads: D CO. and CCC.
