And the bottom plate read: PRESENTED TO, CLARENCE R. GAINOR, FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE RENDERED FROM 4 DECEMBER 1966 TO 15 MAY 1967, “WE’RE NOT WHAT WE SAY, WE ARE BUT WHAT WE DO”’.
In 1966, Clarence R. Gainor served with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN) as a Radio Operator in the II Corp area before he transferred to Project Omega (B-50). He returned for a second tour in November 1968 – August 1969 with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Forward Operational Base #1 (FOB#1).
Clarence Gainor passed away in 2008.
