David Puchalski’s Task Force 1 Advisory Element (TF1AE) black ball cap. The hats were required as standard headgear to be worn in Vietnam replacing the green beret in March 1971 when 5thSpecial Forces Group (ABN) returned to CONUS.
In 1970, David F. Puchalski served in Vietnam with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN), Nha Trang. He was later reassigned to Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control North (CCN) / Task Force 1 Advisory Element (TF1AE), Recon Company, assigned to Recon Team Rattler.
Sergeant (E-5) Puchalski processed out of the Army in 1971 after three years’ service with sixteen months in Vietnam.
