Richard Gross’ 1st Model, 1-0 (One-Zero) Jacket. The garments were originally procured by the Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) for a light weight cross border wind breaker but proved to be too noisy while worn and were reissued as a camp souvenir jacket.
Richard R. Gross served three tours in Vietnam. His first tour was in 1967 with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN), assigned to A-323 and later transferred to Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Forward Operational Base #1 (FOB#1) Phu Bai, Recon Company, assigned to Recon Team New Jersey. He returned for a second tour in 1969 with MAC V SOG, Command and Control Central (CCC), Recon Company assigned to Recon Team California. Richard’s third tour was in 1970 with MAC V SOG, CCC / Task Force 2 Advisory Element (TF2AE) and participated in the 5th MAC V SOG, High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) Combat Jump.
