CCN Plaque

Cliff Newman’s Command and Control North (CCN) end of tour plaque. The award has a brass presentation plate that is engraved: SSG CLIFFORD M. NEWMAN, COMMAND AND CONTROL NORTH, 28 NOV 69 – 18 JUN 71.

Cliff M. Newman served two tours in Vietnam. His first tour was in 1969 with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control North (CCN), Recon Company, assigned to Recon Team Ohio and Florida. He returned for his second tour in 1972 with 1st Special Forces Group (ABN), Detachment 222 assigned to Individual Training Command (ITG) / FANK (Forces Armee Nationale Khmer) Training Command. During the veteran’s tour he participated in the first MAC V SOG, High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) Combat Jump on November 28, 1970 with RT Florida.

Sergeant First Class (E-7) Newman was medically retired from the Army in April 1973 after ten years’ service with twenty-four months in Vietnam.
