Ronald Flether’s MAC V SOG issued 2nd Generation Fat Guard SOG Knife.
In 1971, Ronald Fletcher was assigned to Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control North (CCN), later changed to Task Force 1 Advisory Element (TF1AE), Recon Company, and served on Recon Teams Moccasin, Adder and Habu.
The second generation Fat Guard SOG Knives were procured through the Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) for Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG) sometime in 1970. The blade design had changed but still retained a short / thick cross guard and white spacers in the handle. Another order was later fulfilled for MAC V SOG, Joint Casualty Recover Center (JCRC / OPS-80) in 1972.
