Fat Guard SOG Knife, 2nd Generation Boxed

Ken Bowra’s MAC V SOG issued 2nd Generation, Fat Guard SOG Knife.

In 1971, Kenneth R. Bowra served with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Task Force 1 Advisory Element (TF1AE / CCN), Recon Company, assigned to Recon Teams Idaho and Sidewinder. The veteran later served with the Forces Armee Nationale Khmer (FANK) Program.

The second generation Fat Guard SOG Knives were procured through the Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) for Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG) sometime in 1970. The blade design had changed but still retained a short / thick cross guard and white spacers in the handle. Another order was later fulfilled for MAC V SOG, Joint Casualty Recover Center (JCRC / OPS-80) in 1972.
