Eugene Grapa’s MAC V SOG issued 2nd Generation Fat Guard SOG Knife.
In 1971, Eugene Grapa served with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG) assigned to Command and Control North (CCN) / Task Force 1 Advisory Element (TF1AE), Recon Company, Recon Team Georgia.
The second generation Fat Guard SOG Knives were procured through the Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) for Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG) sometime in 1970. The blade design had changed but still retained a short / thick cross guard and white spacers in the handle. Another order was later fulfilled for MAC V SOG, Joint Casualty Recover Center (JCRC / OPS-80) in 1972.
