In 1968, Douglas L. LeTourneau served with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Forward Operational Base #1 (FOB#1), Recon Company and later Command and Control North (CCN), Recon Company and was assigned to Recon Team’s Virginia and Idaho.
Sergeant (E-5) LeTourneau processed out of the Army in September 1970 after three years’ service with twelve months in Vietnam.
Forward Operational Base #1 (FOB#1) was opened in 1966 and located in Phu Bai, Republic of Vietnam in the I Corp area. The camp was eventually closed in January 1969 and the personnel were reassigned to Forward Operational Base #2 (FOB#2) / Command and Control Central (CCC) or Forward Operational Base #4 / Command and Control North (CCN).
