William Card’s US issued green beret that has a 46th Special Forces Company (Thailand) flash applied to the face.
William R. Card Jr. served five tours in South East Asia. His first and second tour were in the late 1950’s and early 1960s with the 7th Special Forces Group (7th SFG (ABN)) under Project Hot Foot and later Project White Star. He returned for a third tour in 1965 with the 1st Special Forces Group ( 1st SFG (ABN)) assigned to Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Kham Duc, Recon Company and served on Spike Team Iowa. Card served his fourth tour in 1966 with 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG (ABN)) assigned to Project Delta. Major Card performed his fifth tour in South East Asia in 1968 assigned to the 46th Special Forces Company on loan to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for Project 404 in Laos as the Camp Commanding Officer. He was later killed / murdered by a booby trapped ammunition can placed outside his office on March 1, 1971.
