Frank Fowler’s US issued beret that had a 1st Special Forces Group (ABN) flash applied to the face and a replaced Vietnamese hand embroidered liner.
Frank H. Fowler served four tours in South East Asia. He served his first tour in 1961 with 1stSpecial Forces Group (1st SFG (ABN)) assigned to Project White Star in Laos. His second tour was in 1962 with 1st SFG (ABN) as part of a TDY Team assigned to Khe Sanh, RVN. Fowler’s third tour was in 1964 with 1st SFG (ABN), J-2 in Saigon as a Target Analysis Specialist. Frank’s forth tour was in 1965 with 1st SFG (ABN) as part of a TDY Team assigned to Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Kham Duc, RVN, Recon Company assigned to Spike Team Dakota. He returned to Vietnam for his fifth tour 1967 with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN) as a IV Corp Area Specialist.
Sergeant First Class (E-7) Fowler retired from the Army in July 1973 after twenty-one years’ service with thirty-six months in South East Asia.
