Harold Carpenter’s US issued green beret that has a 10th Special Forces Group (ABN) flash applied to the face and a replaced Vietnamese hand embroidered liner.
Harold T. Carpenter served two tours in Vietnam. His first tour was in March 1966 – April 1967 with 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG (ABN)), Project Delta, Recon Section. He returned for a second tour in June 1968 – January 1969 with 5th SFG (ABN), II Corp Mike Force. During the veteran’s service, Tom was assigned to MTTBL-404-67X (Mobile Training Team Bolivia) as an Advisor / Trainer to the 2nd Bolivian Ranger Battalion and was involved in the capture of Che Guevara.
Sergeant Major (E-9) Carpenter retired from the Army in June 1985 after twenty nine years’ service with nineteen months in Vietnam.
