William W. Linsay served four tours in Vietnam. His first tour was in 1961 with 1st Special Forces Group (1st SFG (ABN)) assigned to Thu Duc, RVN. He returned in 1963 with 1st SFG (ABN), assigned to a B-Team in Saigon. William’s third tour was in 1967 with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Forward Operational Base #1 (FOB#1), Recon Company assigned to Recon Team Utah. Lindsay returned for a fourth tour in 1969-1970 with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN) assigned to the B-55 Mike Force, Nha Trang, RVN.
Master Sargent (E-8) Lindsay retired from the Army in April 1971 and had earned one Combat Infantry Ribbon and one CIB (Combat Infantryman Badge) during his twenty three years’ service with thirty-six months in Vietnam. He earned his Combat Infantryman Ribbon as a Marine assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines during the Korean War.
