Pocket Compass

David Rice’s MAC V SOG issued Marlin pocket compass. These compasses were procured by the Central Intelligence Agency’s Liaison Officer assigned to the camp and would mount on the upper chest pocket for general direction.

In 1970, David M. Rice served with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control North (CCN), Recon Company assigned to Recon Team Crusader.

Staff Sergeant (E-6) Rice processed out of the Army in 1976 after seven and a half years’ service with twelve months in Vietnam.
