The item is described as a Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) round tip bolo that was dismantled, chromed and the handles stained before being reassembled. The blade has been engraved: IN APPRECIATION, SSG ROBERT SKINNER, SOA (CCC) 5TH SFGA, KONTUM, VIETNAM.
Robert A. Skinner served three tours in Vietnam. His first tour was in 1965 with 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG (ABN)) assigned to Signal Company as a Photographer. His second tour was in 1967 with 5th SFG (ABN) assigned to A-503 (Mike Force). Robert’s final tour was in 1970 with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observation Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control Central (CCC) assigned to the B-Company Hatchet Forces.
