Hurley Gilpin’s Taiwanese machine embroidered Recon Team Adder Patch
In 1971, Hurley “Gunner” Gilpin was assigned to Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control North (CCN), later changed to Task Force 1 Advisory Element (TF1AE), Recon Company, and served on Recon Teams Adder and Habu.
Sergeant (E-5) Gilpin processed out of the Army in May 1972 after 3 years active service with 8 months in Vietnam. In 1984, he joined the 12th Special Forces Group (Reserves) and went active military in 1985. Gilpin later received his second CIB (Combat Infantryman Badge) in July, 2003 while serving with the 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces assigned in Iraq.
CW4 Gilpin retired in August 2004 with 20 years active service and 8 years in the reserves.
