Lynne M. Black Jr. served two tours in Vietnam. He served his first tour in 1965 – 1966 with the 173rd Airborne Division. His second tour was in 1968 with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Forward Operational Base #1 (FOB#1), Recon Company assigned to Recon Teams Alabama and Idaho.
Staff Sergeant (E-6) Black processed out of the Army in July 1970 after six years’ service with thirty-seven months in Vietnam.
