Joe J. Walker served five tours in South East Asia. His first tour was in 1967 with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN), Project Delta, assigned to the Recon Section. He returned for a second tour in 1968 with Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MAC V SOG), Command and Control Central (CCC), Recon Company assigned to Recon Team California. Joe’s third tour in 1969 with the 46th Special Forces Company (46thSFC) assigned to Project 404 in Laos. Joe returned for a forth tour in 1970 with MAC V SOG, CCC, Recon Company assigned to Recon Team California. Walker’s final tour was in 1972 as part of a 1st Special Forces Group (ABN) TDY Team assigned to the FANK (Forces Armee Nationale Khmer) Program.
Master Sergeant (E-8) Walker retired from the Army in October 1984 after twenty-one years’ service with fifty-one months in Vietnam. He went on to accept a position with the United States Government where he remained until retirement in 2004.
