US issued V-40 grenade that were reported to have been manufactured in Holland and later the United States. These mini grenades were issued to reconnaissance team personnel and would be carried in a canteen pouch. The ordinance would hold off an enemy probing of a team’s location at night when weapon fire would give away their position. Veterans reported they would throw a mini grenade then several rocks and another grenade to keep the North Vietnamese from advancing on their position until help could arrive.
